A curated selection of ink drawings from Inktober 2024-2025. Inktober is an annual worldwide challenge created by illustrator Jake Parker to encourage good drawing habits and rendering skills. Artists submit illustrations based on the word of the day for the entire month of October.
The process: After brainstorming ideas for the drawing, I research references and draw lightly with a graphite pencil. Once the pencil sketch is done, I will either use a ball point black in pen (the first three drawings) or .05 Micron black ink pen.
1. "Discovery". Is it the horror of discovering a worm in the apple or the unpleasant discovery the worm is experiencing by having it's fruit home destroyed?
2. "Crown".  I've always loved toads - one of my favorite playthings as a child. Why do only frogs get to wear crowns?
3. "Rowdy". A hyena performing his stand-up act to other hyenas in a comedy club.
4. "Sweep". It is hard to think of a broom and not recall the classic scene in Fantasia.
5. "Weave". A man with a receding hair line in corn rows and micro braids.
